What Precisely Is Famanon?

Families Anonymous is a world-wide collaboration of family and friends who have been hurt due to somebody else's abuse of mind-altering substances or behavioural problems. Fam Anon has groups which meet regularly and spread throughout the country. Anyone, with even a slight suspicion of a substance abuse problem of a close one, is encouraged to come to the gatherings.

In 1971, Fam Anon was established by groups of families living in America. There are around 50 groups in different parts of the nation now, after the first group began operating in London in 1980.

The Fellowship is a self improvement association which has program of 12 Steps and 12 Traditions initially detailed by Alcoholics Anonymous.

How Can It Help?

The goal of the group is to provide a place where experiences and worries can be discussed and to assist family and friends of individuals with a current, previous or suspected drug issue by offering mutual support. Group members learn how to adjust, cope, encourage and support loved ones under the influence of addiction.

Assistance for the family and friends is a great help for the addict as well and this is proven by practice and experience.

Group gatherings enable members to have an honest and steady relationship with the addict. Sharing of concerns and difficulties stirs individuals in the group to take a stand against drugs.
